Ceiling Fan Remote Battery - What exactly is the reason for having a reverse button on ceiling fans? I wondered why the ceiling fans that were older did not get a reverse button. Were the people that designed those fans, only too ignorant to think of using reverse in winter?
Until the temperature is comfortable at the lower levels of the rooms, the heat unit runs. However, by the time this happens, it will be very hot at the ceiling level.
However, imagine if there is a strategy to get this hot air down to the lower levels, off the ceiling where we reside. The heat unit wouldn't need to work as long and also the savings on our utility bill could be substantial. This mix would basically equalize the temperature at ceiling and floor levels, which means that the heat wouldn't be squandered keeping the ceilings warm.
But then someone said that the draft developed by the ceiling fans will be too much for winter months. So someone else said "well, let's only turn the ceiling fans and let the air blow up until it hits the ceiling and then it will go horizontal in most ways until it hits the walls. Afterward it will come down vertically until it hits on the floor. Now it will travel, toward the centre of the space, back in at floor level and then back up to the ceiling fan.
