Ceiling Fan Mount For Cathedral Ceiling - What's the reason for having a reverse button on ceiling fans? I always wondered why the older ceiling fans didn't have a reverse button. Were the people who designed those fans, only too dumb to think about using inverse in winter?
The heating unit runs before the temperature is comfortable at the reduced amounts of the rooms. But by the time this happens, it'll be very hot in the ceiling level.
But imagine if there was a strategy to get this hot air down off the ceiling, to the lower levels where we dwell. The heating unit wouldn't need to work as long and the savings on our utility bill may be considerable. This mixing would basically equalize the temperature at ceiling and floor levels, meaning that the heat wouldn't be squandered keeping the ceilings warm.
But someone said the draft produced by the ceiling fans could be too much for winter months. Then it'll come down vertically until it hits on the floor. Now it's going to travel, toward the middle of the space, back in at floor level and then back up to the ceiling fan.
