Low Profile Ceiling Fans Without Lights - What exactly is the reason for having a reverse button on ceiling fans? Well "they," say that you cannot stand a draft during winter months, but that you can equalize the air temperature by utilizing your fan in the reverse direction. I always wondered why the older ceiling fans didn't have a reverse button. The people who designed those fans, simply too stupid to think about used reverse in winter?
Before the temperature is comfortable at the low levels of the rooms, the heat unit runs. But from the time this occurs, it'll be quite hot at the ceiling level.
But what if there was a way to get this hot air down to the lower levels, off the ceiling where we reside. The heat unit wouldn't have to work as long and the savings on our utility bill might be considerable. The temperature would basically equalize at ceiling and floor levels, which means that the heat wouldn't be squandered keeping the ceilings warm.
But someone said that the draft produced by the ceiling fans would be too much for winter months. Until it hits on the floor, afterward it's going to come down vertically. Now it'll travel back in toward the centre of the area and then back up to the ceiling fan.
