Ellington Pineapple Ceiling Fan - What is the reason for having a reverse button on ceiling fans? I wondered why the older ceiling fans didn't have a reverse button. The people that designed those fans, only too stupid to think of used reverse in winter?
The heat unit runs before the temperature is comfortable at the low levels of the rooms. But from the time this happens, it will be quite hot in the ceiling level.
But what if there was a way to get this hot air down off the ceiling, to the low levels where we dwell. The heat unit would not have to work long as well as the savings on our utility bill may be considerable. The temperature would basically equalize at floor and ceiling levels, which means that the heat would not be wasted keeping the ceilings warm.
But then someone said that the draft developed by the ceiling fans will be too much for winter months. So someone else said "well, let's only turn the ceiling fans and allow the air blow up until it hits the ceiling and then it'll go horizontal in most ways until it hits the walls. Until it hits the floor, then it'll come down vertically. Now it then back up to the ceiling fan and will travel, at floor level, back in toward the centre of the space.
