Ceiling Fan Electrical Mounting Box - Well "they," say that you CAn't bear a draft during winter months, but that it is possible to equalize the air temperature by utilizing your fan in the reverse way. I always wondered why the ceiling fans that were older did not have a reverse button. Were the people who designed those fans, simply too stupid to think of using reverse in winter?
The heat unit runs until the temperature is comfortable at the reduced amounts of the rooms. But by the time this occurs, it'll be quite hot in the ceiling level.
But imagine if there was a solution to get this hot air down to the lower levels where we dwell. The heat unit would not have to work long as well as the savings on our utility bill may be considerable. The temperature would basically equalize at ceiling and floor levels, meaning that the heat would not be squandered keeping the ceilings warm.
But someone said the draft developed by the ceiling fans will be too much for winter months. So someone else said "well, let us simply turn the ceiling fans and allow the air blow up until it hits the ceiling and then it is going to go horizontal in most directions until it hits the walls. Until it hits the floor, afterward it's going to come down. Now it will go, toward the middle of the area, back in at floor level and then back up to the ceiling fan.
